We consider ourselves privileged to have been awarded a contract to create a video for the Ministry of Administrative Development, Labor and Social Affairs of the state of Qatar. It took us six years to achieve this honor, and we consider this the pinnacle of our progress thus far in 2021.
The video was a PSA for migrant workers on the importance of keeping hydrated and avoiding heat stroke while working outdoors. The video was supposed to be dubbed in many languages. The first task was creating the script, highlighting the importance of staying hydrated while working in the hot Middle Eastern sun. It also had to give tips of signs of heat stroke and what preventative measures to take. The video also had to give out legal advice to these workers as employers could not withhold wages or fire them from employment. After finalizing the script, the next task was to come up with a male character that was from the sub-continent. We named him Aneesh (as the majority of the labor force consists migrant workers from India). Then the character goes on to explain the importance of staying hydrated, and what to do in case if a coworker showed symptoms of heat stroke. We also voiced Aneesh with the voice of our founder Vijith Premasinghe.
We kept the colors, backgrounds very simple. The major problem was how we were going to lip sync the many languages we were going to put in. Although not a major requirement we worked with the different translators and voice artists who helped us with matching the lip syncing as much as possible. After 3-4 months of work, we created a PSA video that the client was happy.
If you have a requirement to do a video like this within a US$800 budget, please do contact us and let us know how we can help you. Let us know if you have a concept similar to this that you think you can benefit with an animated character video, we would like to be part of that conversation.
